It's almost 10 years since I went through the worst time of my life and my lovely hubby passed away. I was lost and missed him so much. Accidentally, I found the u3a online and I hadn't heard of it before. Being a shy and socially awkward person I had to force myself through the door the first time. How happy I am that I did that. I now have new friends and have learnt to laugh again. Susan, Walsoken

I had never heard of u3a until I recently moved to the area. I was made to feel welcomed, and everyone was friendly. The monthly speakers are interesting and there are groups of all different interests. I’ve joined several and found it’s a great way to make new friends. Since being a member, I can highly recommend it. Donna, Wisbech

I thought u3a was a club for old people. Until I went along to a monthly meeting! Wow, what a surprise! Ok, Wisbech u3a does have its ‘older’ members, but I’ve come to realise that age is just a number! Since becoming a member, I’ve joined a lot of groups and made many friends (of all ages!!) and eventually, when he realised u3a wasn’t just for ladies, my husband joined too. Chris, Gorefield

I joined the u3a about two years ago. Since then, I have met some lovely people and enjoyed many new activities, both indoors and outdoors. I have been introduced to some new (to me) games including Rummikub. I have joined the Strollers group and visited many lovely local places I previously knew nothing about! Simon, Walsoken

A while after my husband passed away, I went to a bereavement meeting and there I met another widowed lady who was soon to become my dearest friend. Some time passed before we began to feel able to meet other people socially.
The u3a was recommended to us. Soon we became members and began to join groups that were of interest to us. Our social lives expanded; we made new friends.
Looking back; joining the u3a helped us to restore our lives! Marion, Wisbech

I have lived in Leverington 20 years now, retired in 2021 and took some time out for myself for a few months doing nothing
I realised that I would need to start making a new life for myself after my full  work life, and a friend brought me to my first U3a meeting.
There my world opened up to new and exciting activities on offer that I can access so easily and at either a low cost or free. Who knew this is all going on daily?
U3a activities are offered without pressure and if it cannot attend no problem come next time
The group is friendly and people come from all walks of life, with so many interesting stories. Christine, Leverington
